The great civilizations are usually built on the backs of the slaves and the history echoes with the silences of these forgotten races. Toni Morrison is a gifted writer who has taken upon herself to give voice to the silences of her ancestors. In this paper an attempt has been made to understand the beauty of her work, her beauty of the scarred soul of Sethe, and the likes of her, the black slaves. Keywords
